Shropshire in the Snow – 21st January 2018

IMG_5791

This photograph was taken by Anthony J Sargeant from a South facing bedroom window of his Shropshire home on 21st January 2018. It was only the second snowfall of the Winter (the first was just before Christmas) and although the snow barely settled this time and only lasted for a day it transformed for that brief time the scene looking out across the garden of the house to the sheep pastures beyond.

Photograph was taken from the bedroom window of the Shropshire home of Tony Sargeant around midday on 8th December 2017. The snow kept us trapped in the house for 5 days. It was however no hardship given a well stocked ‘American’ Fridge Freezer.

Shropshire, England, 8th December 2017 – A bleakly beautiful winter’s day

Photographed by Anthony J Sargeant from his garden. The deep snow around his Shropshire home made it difficult to get out for some days after the snow fall. The lane that passes his house has steep gradients in both directions before reaching a road that is gritted and salted.

But being imprisoned among beautiful bleakness is an “imprisonment” worth suffering.

Shropshire Snow – photographed by Anthony J Sargeant from the bedroom window of his home 9th December 2017

Blue skies and crisp deep snows in Shropshire, England on the 9th December 2017. Living on a narrow country lane with steep inclines in either direction before reaching even a ‘B’ road meant that for a few days we were ‘imprisoned’ in this winter wonderland – but what a delightful prison!
