Afternoon Sunshine in a Shropshire Churchyard

IMG_5888

Not far from the Shropshire home of Anthony J Sargeant there is a tiny 12th Century Church which is surrounded by an ancient graveyard. Tony photographed these snowdrops bursting through the moss and grass that lies over the bones of generations of Shropshire women, children and men buried beneath. Photographed on a freezing crystal clear day, February 25th 2018 the snowdrops announce that spring cannot be far behind.

Mark Baxter - the haircut

During our climbing trip to the Cairngorms in 1959 Mark Baxter who had long curly hair decided it needed cutting and so various members of the party duly obliged. Recorded in this photograph taken by Tony Sargeant. Here Mr Arthur Grant wields the scissors watched by Martin Symms (extreme right) and Stephen Lee (2nd from right). Hidden from view on the left is Bob Tweddle, and centre Colin (Bert) Baker.

IMG_5796

Dramatic sunset in Shropshire, England,  photographed by Anthony J Sargeant from the garden of his Shropshire home at 5.10 pm on the 27th January 2018. There was a brisk westerly wind sending the clouds scudding across the sky. In the meadow across the lane stands an ancient Oak silhouetted against the sky
