Anthony J Sargeant, Anthony Sargeant

A protest against do-gooders

‘Knulp’ Revisited, 2017

So Sad”

they will say.

He lived alone.

No family.

No friends.

The occasional

pleasantry

exchanged

with a neighbour

and the woman

on the checkout

at the supermarket.

But no one

knew him

knew what he felt

knew what he thought

knew what, if anything, he cared about.

And he died alone.

So Very Sad”

But was it?

Sad”?

Perhaps it was

‘The Perfect Life’

No commitments

No constrictions

No interruptions

and, at the end,

No one to grieve.
